| New London venue for emotional
healing training course |
| |
| The Foundation
for Emotional Therapy will be holding its first training course
in London for those wishing to explore training to become
an emotional therapist. For the past 13 years, the foundation
has provided training courses from various places around the
country. Now, due to rise in awareness of emotional therapy
and its ability to help those struggling with emotional trauma,
the charity is offering a course in the London area for the
first time. |
| |
| The foundation's
Training Officer Jane Rochfort said: "The stresses and
strains of everyday life mean that more people are suffering
all sorts of emotional difficulties, ranging from depression,
anxiety and eating disorders to ill health, addictive behaviour
and relationship problems. |
| |
| "An emotional
therapist supports his or her clients to come to terms with
suppressed emotional pain in a healthy and integrated way.
It allows individuals to gain greater self-knowledge and personal
strength to help them more effectively manage their lives." |
| |
Jane added:
"Potential therapists must have the right personal qualities,
as well as commitment. But it is an extremely rewarding role."
Training includes study of the theory and practice of emotional
therapy, aspects of human development, as well as introducing
students to the range of psychotherapies and counselling currently
on offer.
|
| |
| The Foundation
Course - held over ten days usually over five weekends for
5 months - includes communication and listening skills, working
on a creative level covering anger, fear, guilt and shame,
healing the hurt child, loss and bereavement, dream work,
visualisation and imagery and many other techniques. Emotional
Therapy brings counselling into the 21st Century, integrating
mind, body, emotion and spiritual needs. |
| |
| Students participate
in lectures, workshops and discussions, and can expect to
work individually and in groups of differing sizes. |
|
| |
| Although a
non-denominational organization, the first London Foundation
Course, which starts in October, is being held at the Benedictine
Spiritual Centre between Cockfosters and Oakwood Underground
stations in north-east London. Jane said: "The facilities
at the centre are excellent. It's a very tranquil setting,
which allows reflection and quiet contemplation." |

| Other foundation courses are being
held throughout the country from September onwards. |
