It is now statistically
confirmed that complementary practitioners have a work life
of approximately 5 years. Having been a practitioner for over
19 years, I have been asking myself why that might be so.
Talking with colleagues and participants, I am guessing that
we often become complementary practitioners because we really
enjoy the ease and freedom it promises. We are seeking a different
lifestyle, a different way of being. But then maybe the reality
of 'having to make money' comes home, and a certain pressure
builds up.

| Maybe we fall back into our usual
way of operating. We get on with it and see as many clients
as we can…. |

When working
with people we ourselves need to be in a good space, continually
taking care of ourselves, so we can handle the physical /
energetic demands of this amazing profession. These are new
parameters and stresses that need to be understood and encompassed.

| Don't burn out, your chosen therapy
can continue to be fun and enjoyable. |
| When we touch
people, working with energy and body work, a thorough training
prepares us for a certain degree of ongoing body contact.
But how do you know - how do you ensure that you stay balanced,
energised and in tune with your own needs at all times? Are
you conscious, are you aware of what state your body is in
- how much you can handle, and how to stay energised, stay
protected and grounded? How do you assess that? |

| Learn how to take care of yourself. |
Often practitioners
come to me who are empty - tired - exhausted or sensitive.
There are also still some practitioners who sort of boast:
'I have not had a holiday in over a year', ' I have worked
10 hours today'. If that sounds like you, then not only are
you burning yourself out in the long run, you are not treating
yourself holistically. You may want to know more how energy
works. |

| Your work becomes effortless. |
When touching
others, not only can we pick up energy, aches and pains, but
also emotions. There may be various reasons for this. For
example: our own energy levels are low; or we empathise, and
that can open us to our client's 'stuff'. So you may feel
tired at the end of the day, not only because you have been
working physically but also because you have 'picked up' stuff.

| |
| There may be other reasons why we
are sensitively predisposed. |
|
|
| There are
ways of preventing that from happening. One is to become more
AWARE, to learn how to read the body signs, helping you to
stay energised and alert.
Brigette Hass offers TOUCH workshops, to help you find the
